Founded in 1965, TALC (Teaching Aids at low Cost) is a unique British charity dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and teaching, by providing free and low cost medical books and educational materials to health workers in the developing world. With the support of the MPT, TALC has just distributed 1800 copies of the Portuguese edition of the medical book "Where there is no Doctor" to health workers in Angola and are pushing ahead with the further distribution of 16,000 copies working with the World Health Organisation and the Ministry of Training.
Their future plans for "Onde Não Há Médico" are to concentrate their efforts on Angola, Mozambique and other Portuguese speaking countries of Africa and the Portuguese speaking migrants who have settled in South Africa. They need more finance to fund the distribution of the book, and the training activities that have been requested, to teach health workers how best to use it.
