"If it's planned then it's boring" - Freddie once said. Yeah, there was no plan (of course, except a few little things) but go to work and spend a usual day in an unusual manner. We decided to begin at the Odessa City Garden 'cause it's quite a beautiful place to set out. As there weren't many people, we went straight to Odessa Music Academy.
Some people knew about the event because beforehand I managed to stick some "I'm ready to be Freddie" (translated into Russian) papers to the visible places at the academy, however, it was quite funny to watch the reaction of the people who heard me announcing "This is Freddie For A Day" upon entrance into the building (well, you should
watch the video to see this). Well, some were amused and some were confused as they didn't know how to react but I tried to tell them all about the real purpose of this event.
When time came to have a coffee break down at the cafeteria I found some people who were quite surprised to see me like this but I guess they managed to cope with it somehow, however, I didn't really care much about those who didn't like the idea. I just kept drinking my espresso while talking to a friend. I enjoyed being Freddie and enjoyed the idea that I made so many people smile and make them take thought about HIV/AIDS problem.
Later on, I managed to talk about FFAD with the academy Rector (you can see the pictures on my
website) and he even became the first person to make a donation.
Even though I was getting late for the rehearsal at my other job, (yeah, this is Ukraine :) ) I managed to get there anyway and spread awareness among my colleagues. And even though I truly hoped to get some donations there as well, I didn't get any. Well, again, in Ukraine people usually do not give money, period. Anyway, It didn't spoil my mood very much because the day wasn't finished.
My way was to the Odessa City Garden where I planned to do one crazy thing. With the help of my friend I decided to perform "Love of My Life". We chose a place and just did it (
the video is also available)! And I'm sure it was the most memorable moment of the day because I know that the people who were there will remember it and will think about it later.
The rest of the evening I spent with my friend guitarist Sasha and my girlfriend Vita in a café discussing all that happened during the day. And I really hope this one day might be a start of something big.
You may see from the pictures that I didn't wear a moustache all the time. Well, it was a compromise I had to take. I wanted to have a moustache on no matter what, haha, while my mom and girlfriend all said that I shouldn't. So, I had to spend some time without it.
Yours sincerely,
