My name is Madeleine and I'm 19 years old. I'm in my third and last year at the Healthcare-program in Nässjö, Sweden. I've always been fascinated by Queen's music and Freddie Mercury’s voice and charisma. As my school project I've chosen to put up a number of concerts with Queen songs in Freddie Mercury’s memory. All money gained will be donated to MPT to support their fight against AIDS.
I've gathered 5 Queen fans to the band and we have been rehearsing intensively since September last year. It clearly shows that everyone's hearts are burning for the music, and I’m looking forward to get on stage and show what we have been rehearsing on. Currently, two concerts are planned and will be held in Nässjö in the end of March and in the beginning of April.
As early as I was 12 years old, in the year of 2002, I thought Queen was a great band. I remember sitting in school, reading about Queen in our English class. When I read the text phrase "In November 1991 Freddie died..." a strange feeling came over me. At that point I didn't know that Freddie had left us. It felt like a part of me died when I found out that he had been gone for many years already. I’m glad that I have found a way to help and support people with the same disease.
