If you’re like me then everything online seems like a brilliant idea until you actually have to set it up and be confronted with your lack of techno skills. Fortunately for us, some of our supporters are far more technologically advanced than this little Ed, so we already have some fund raising pages on Just Giving for the MPT. But I’ve been promising the Boss for some time that I’d write a guide on how to set a page up and get cracking with the fund raising, so here we go:
Hit ‘Go’ and you’ll be taken to a list of potential charities (as shown below) We’re the one at the top of the list, simply then click on the link:
You’ll be taken to our page, where the following options are available:
Step Two: Select ‘Make your page’ and enter your details to set up an account. Don’t forget to tick the Terms and Conditions!
Once you’ve set up your account you’re ready to go – Just Giving asks you to let them know what you’re planning on doing to raise money, with the following options:
Obviously any of these things are great, so select the one most appropriate for you, for example, ‘Doing your own thing’. Once you’ve done this, Just Giving
Will get you to set up your web address and will check whether your charity is contributing to Gift Aid – we are, so make sure you select the ‘is’ option.
Step Three: Select ‘Make Your Page’ and then you’re off – you can upload your photos, write about what you’re doing, and most importantly you can send the link to your page to all your friends, family and supporters so they can then donate online and leave messages of encouragement to you on your mission!
So hopefully that will help explain the process, as you can see it’s not scary at all. Although actually there is a Step Four that I should mention: raise funds, funds, funds!
