Welcome to the brand new Mercury Phoenix Trust website. We hope you like it and we would love to have your involvement.
Since we founded the MPT in 1992 the Trust has quietly got on with its work of helping AIDS charities all over the world and has given away over fifteen million dollars. All of this money has had to be raised and, although a lot of it came from the original Wembley Tribute Concert, we have continually looked for new ways of raising money. Queen is lucky to have the most amazing network of global fan clubs and we believe, with your help, we can seriously raise the profile of the MPT and build the Trust further on a global basis in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
In the last ten years the Trust has donated money to over 300 charities spread all over the world. Many of these charities need continual funding and by making you more aware of their activities and possibly highlighting some of them, together with some of our new grant applicants, we hope to get you involved in furthering the work of these charities. We will also advise you on any ideas and initiatives you might have.
The website will also promote any fundraising activities fans or fan clubs come up with. For example, Nan and Robyn have a wonderful idea for a book involving fans all over the world in aid of the Trust. This project will be the first fan-based project tha the new site will promote when it is launched in September. Later in the year we will be promoting Davide’s EP idea to tie in with the Italian opening of We Will Rock You.
Queen are privileged to have the most fantastic, loyal and dedicated fans of any band in the world. You are spread worldwide and between us we are sure we can further build the Mercury Phoenix Trust so that it can continue to grow and keep Freddie’s legacy alive.
