Two months ago I decided to undertake the unusual challenge of only buying clothes from charity shops for the next year. I have been documenting the challenge and the highs and lows at http://www.thatcharitystyle.com/

There were so many charities out there but when Just Giving approached me about writing something for their site about the blog they asked if there was a particular charity I would choose to support. One sprang to mind – The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

I have been a Queen fan ever since I can remember with my Dad playing non-stop Queen and Freddie Mercury all the time (he is a die hard Queen fan). When I got older and learned about the work of the charity it is something I have always felt is a truly worthwhile cause. So I set up my Just Giving page (www.justgiving.com/charitystyle) where people who like my blog can donate to this cause.

I have to say, so far, I am loving it. Not only can you find some amazing bargains it is also great to support so many good causes. It is hard sometimes, don’t get me wrong, when I want something for a specific occasion but there is always a lot more out there than you would expect. I have vowed to buy lots of Christmas presents for people from charity outlets so that should be interesting and I fully intend to keep the challenge up for the whole year!

I hope that people will donate to The Mercury Phoenix Trust and I will be donating too as the project goes on. My target is £10,000, and I have so far raised... £5! Only £9,995 to go!
