The initiative that encouraged fans around the world to celebrate the life of our dear Freddie Mercury and raise awareness about HIV/ADIS had its own voice in Brazil. On September 6th at the Blackmore Rock bar in Sao Paulo, the Queen Tribute Brazil band - along with various artists - conmemorated the 1992 Concert For Life. The event, organized by Lady Taylor (with moustache!) had many emotive moments. Messages by fans from every corner of Brazil were read and made into a beautiful panel.
The venue was full, with more than 200 attendants. Moustaches were given during the show, so that everyone could be Freddie For A Day. Some fans came dressed as Freddie, while others did that on September 3rd. There were prizes for the best costumes:
1st Prize (MAGIC YEARS video and MAGIC ROCKS book) for Marcelo Simon, dressed as '80s Freddie
2nd Prize (webcam and Roger solo DVD) for Ana Paula, dressed as Magic Tour Freddie
3rd Prize (Roger solo DVD and patches) for Ruthinha Mercury, an 82 years old Freddie lover! who didn't accept the prize and asked it to be sold to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
On top of this, Lady Taylor did a Quick Quiz for the fans during the break, and a lot of prizes were given: CDs, Official International Queen Fan Club fanzines, keyholders, pins, stickers, etc.
The Queen Tribute Brazil band took care of the music, paying tribute to one of the greatest rock bands of all times. They performed hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Love Of My life, We Are The Champions, Under Pressure, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free and These Are The Days Of Our Lives, and also more obscure songs like Father To Son, Las Palabras De Amor, etc. The Queen Tribute Brazil is formed by:
Eddie Star - Vocals
Reinaldo Kramer - Drums and vocals
Iel Pinheiro - Bass and vocals
Rafael Dentini - Keyboards and vocals
Quizzy – Guitar
There were also a lot of guests from other bands: Roger Troyjo (Yessongs, Rush Project, Gênesis Live and A Nave), Rics Carvalho and Hená Deslandes (Echoes - Pink Floyd cover), Cesar Achon (Dreamers and Made in Brazil), Luciano Jannuzzi (Dreamers and Wakemaniacs), Italo Mercury Arruda (Killer Queen – Ceará), Mario Candelária and Marcelo Facundo (Magic Rockin').
The night was full of music and magic. The public and the musicians enjoyed themselves a lot, as you can see here:
