Well, having reported in our last blog that sponsorship had been slow, we’ve suddenly had a flourish of donations come our way! We were really thrilled when we went to our JustGiving page and found that not one, but two West End leading performers had kindly donated! One Miss Leanne Jones, award winning leading lady from ‘Hairspray’, and one Mr Oliver Thompset, leading man and all round Fittie McVittie from ‘Wicked’! It was just a really lovely surprise and so we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their generosity.

But it would seem that they weren’t the only ones who dug deep over the past couple of weeks, and we are so excited to tell you that we have now reached £530 in sponsorship!! That takes us to 27% of our target! Still a really long way to go, we know, but we feel that this is a real achievement! It proves to us that people really believe in what we’re doing, and that they have faith that we’re going to complete our 112 mile walk. So a massive, massive thank you to EVERYONE who has donated to us so far. Every single penny makes that total edge closer to our £2k target.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been truly overwhelmed by the words of support and encouragement from people, in particular, our lovely lovely supporters who watch our videos on our other YouTube channel. We’ve been making video blogs for a couple of years now – initially for our own amusement really. But we now have a very loyal community of viewers who come back every time to watch. Apparently we’re funny......???

So when we decided to take on this fundraising challenge, we were lucky enough to already have over one hundred people all ready and waiting to support us. And honesty? They are where the majority of our sponsorship has come from thus far. But not only have they been generously donating to our JustGiving site, they’ve also been nothing but helpful. As we’ve mentioned before in our vlog on www.youtube.com/walktowestend we had the lovely Philippa organise a hotel in London for when we arrive and need somewhere to die quietly! We also had Jamie who wrote to the local papers and managed to get us in our weekly newspaper and most recently, we have had someone design hooded tops for us to wear whilst we’re walking, with the MPT logo on it, as well as our JustGiving address and Nat who has shamelessly been ringing hotels asking for freebies on our behalf! There has been plenty more help come our way too, but if we were to list everything, we’d be here all day – and that is a really amazing thing to be able to say. It has honestly been completely humbling and we’re so, so grateful.

In other news, the Broadway World UK editor stayed true to her word and gave us space on their website for our article! You can find that at: http://westend.broadwayworld.com/article/Becki_And_Sal_WALK_TO_THE_WEST_END_20100402
Very exciting – and lovely of Carrie Dunn to allow us to promote ourselves on the site.

So all in all, a pretty successful few weeks in terms of people just being lovely and generous and...and...lovely! Good Walk to West End times!!! Woop!
