Well, the title pretty much sums up the last week. So much awesome!
Firstly, after having celebrated reaching our £500 mark last week, it suddenly shot up again and we have now passed the £600 mark!! We honestly still get so excited when we get a new donation and to see it creeping further and further up is just amazing! And we’re told that there is plenty more on the way so big smiles over here!
Last night we found ourselves talking over the internet to a young lady who has been following us on YouTube but who we have never spoken to before and found out that she has been quietly working away on her own fundraising events. We obviously offered to sponsored her, to which she replied ‘it’s for you, muppet!’ To explain...the money that she raises from her own events, she wants to put towards OUR sponsorship pot! We were very confused and taken aback by this and so we will bring you more details about this very kind, inspirational supporter once we know more! It just made us feel once again, overwhelmed by the kindness and support from people we don’t even know!
For the last thirteen weeks, we have been rehearsing, along with 450 other singers, for ‘The Night of 1000 Voices’, an annual charity concert held at the Royal Albert Hall. So, on Friday, we skipped off to London for a weekend that proved to be one that we’ll never forget. The concert was to be held on Sunday, so what did we do with our Friday night? OK, so we might have ‘accidentally’ booked row C tickets to see We Will Rock You....predictable? Us?! How very dare you!
Well, it just seemed rude not to, so off we went to the Dominion Theatre! Great show as always. Being so close to the action can be both uncomfortable and amazing all at the same time!! And as we soon found out, it makes it easier for the cast to talk to you from the stage! We were shocked and amazed when the mighty Killer Queen came forward to take her bow, pointed at us, mouthed something that we didn’t quite understand and proceeded to do a sort of pigeon walk. It took a moment for it to all click into place that she was referring to our walk (although we don’t plan on pigeon walking our way to London!).
This was confirmed when she came down for her second bow, stuck her thumbs up at us and mouthed ‘good luck!!’ Oh how we love Mazz Murray!! What a legend she is! She couldn’t have made us feel more special if she tried, and we skipped away from the Dominion that night very happy indeed. We’re not entirely sure how she knows about the walk, and certainly don’t know how she recognised us as being ‘the girls doing the walk’ but we do know that we love that Killer Queen!! In fact, she should come and walk with us – it’d be great! We wouldn’t get on her nerves at all...!!
So after the euphoria of We Will Rock You, we carried on our epic weekend, rehearsing for the concert all day on the Saturday and then turning up at the Royal Albert Hall on the Sunday for an early rehearsal, followed by two shows! And here’s where it gets exciting! Towards the end of the concert there came the We Will Rock You section sung by... Kerry Ellis, Adam Pascal and Ricardo Alfonso... accompanied by us, the 450 voice choir AND... wait for it......DR BRIAN MAY!!! Oh yes ladies and gentlemen, we have performed live at the Royal Albert Hall with the hairy god of rock!! It was really quite something and we will never forget that feeling. It’s hard to put it into words really, so we won’t try!
A very exciting weekend all in all, and as usual when we’re In London, we did manage a fair bit of walking! It just kind of happens when we’re there really!
Well, that’s it really! Thanks for reading! Keep checking back for more news and updates!! :-)
Lotsa Love xx
