I would like to thank the Mercury Phoenix Trust for the support they have shown us for the Aussie Queens Fan Gathering in Ballarat, Australia on the 27th February 2010. This event will have a fund raising auction component to it where part proceeds from the auction will be donated by Aussie Queens to the Mercury Phoenix Trust. This event will be our first fundraising attempt and I hope the club can raise a nice amount to present to the Mercury Phoenix Trust once the auction is over.
For those that don’t know, Aussie Queens was established by Queen Fans. The club’s motto is from the fans for the fans and for the band members of Queen. We try to have a holistic approach to what the club needs to do for its members and for the broader Queen community. Underlying everything we do is strong pulse for us to preserve and ensure we continue to pass on the spirit of Freddie Mercury and what he stood for.
We see the Mercury Phoenix Trust as the representative for Freddie and as such the club has committed to do what it can and where it can help support this amazing organisation that has done so much to fight AIDS worldwide and saved so many lives. It is indeed a charity we will be proud to do all we can to make contributions to the Fund when we can.
We hope as many Queen Fans will come and support our event and dig deep when the auction is on.
Special thanks to Maureen Barclay for the amazing support she has shown us on behalf of the Mercury Phoenix Trust. I am sure Freddie would have been proud of what this organisation and the people behind it have achieved and all the lives it has altered since its inception.
